The Look! Doris Dukes
Day & Evening Wear
Learn how day and evening styles evolved from the 1930s to the 1980s through
the personal clothing collection of Doris Duke, heiress and philanthropist.
Known for her style and glamour, the willowy Doris Duke was a designer's
dream. Sometimes she followed fashion dictates, other times she broke the
rules, but she always had The Look. Admire couture from Yves St. Laurent,
Chanel, Christian Dior and Halston, along with photos of Miss Duke wearing
the outfits. The Look! is on display in the galleries at Rough Point, Doris
Dukes oceanfront Newport home. Rough Point, 680 Bellevue Avenue, Newport,
849-7300.
