The pineapple has represented hospitality since colonial Newporters invited friends in to celebrate the safe return of a ship by placing a pineapple over the doorway. In the same spirit of hospitality The Pineapple Post has been welcoming visitors to the Newport area for the past 36 years.

Welcome to Summer in Newport!

All thru the Summer visit Astors’ Beechwood for Big Band Sounds, classical music or simply to see how life was with Mrs. Astor. Other musical and theatrical events are also listed inside including live Jazz and tasting at Greenvale Vineyards and Newport Vineyards. Don’t forget Newport Gallery Nights on the second Thursday of each month where you can tour 22 galleries including Cadeaux duMonde, Alloy and more. Anchor Bend Glass will have glass blowing demos and special shows all Spring long.  Stroll on down Bellevue Avenue and visit the Newport Art Museum and The Griffon Shop.  While on Bellevue Avenue, visit the Redwood Library and Athenaeum and then stroll down past the mansions to The Galleries at Rough Point to view a collection of couture fit for an heiress – The LOOK – Doris Duke’s Day & Evening Wear.

Stop at the Visitor’s Center for information on the tours of B&Bs and walking Neighborhood Tours. For a different view of the outdoors, take a helicopter ride on Birds Eye View Helicopters or take the Newport Dinner Train.  If  Summer cruising is your desire, take a trip on one of Newport’s favorite harbor cruises --- the Madeleine, the Rumrunner, or Arabella when it returns from the Carribbean.

Strolling down Thames Street along the harbor stop by Christie’s Landing to shop at Designer Jewelry, Conversation Pieces, and The Newport Store/Beach Bums. Then stop in for lunch or dinner at H2O – Newport’s newest food and water bar…with a spectacular view of the harbor.

Feeling lucky, visit Newport Grand. Of course, a visit to Newport would not be complete without sampling its varied cuisines. For casual dining try The Wharf Pub .or try the brand new Wine, Bar & Kitchen: FLUKE. For the only beachfront dining experience in Newport, go to Atlantic Beach Club. For great sushi or Japanese cuisine, Newport Tokyo House.  And, don’t forget micro-brews at Coddington Brewing Company and ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s or Coldstone Creamery.  For crepes, go to Paris Delight.
